Bridgestone Americas Trust Fund awards nearly $1 million to non-profit organizations

A total of 22 non-profit organizations received grants based on their close alignment with the company’s geographic footprint and its evolving business strategy as a sustainable mobility solutions company. Eight of these organizations will receive larger Strategic Partner grants and increased volunteer support because they perform work in areas of priority for Bridgestone, including promoting diversity, mobility, education, and access to employment. The fourteen additional Community Partner grants were awarded to organizations recommended by Bridgestone employees through a process that aims to democratize how the company drives change.

Continental Automotive consolidates sites in Germany impacting 2,300 positions

The measures to increase competitiveness are expected to have an impact on a total of around 2,300 jobs in the Continental Automotive sector in the Rhine-Main region. Of these, around 1200 jobs are to be cut and around 1100 are to be relocated to the sites in Frankfurt and Babenhausen. Continental’s Automotive sector currently employs around 8,000 people in the Rhine-Main region. “We will work closely with our social partners to find good and fair solutions for the planned changes,” said von Hirschheydt.

Continental was awarded three wins at the Tire Technology International (TTI) Awards

Continental was awarded three wins at the Tire Technology International (TTI) Awards for Innovation and Excellence this year. The German manufacturer took home the top prize of “Tire of the Year” for its new AllSeasonContact 2. In developing the tire, the manufacturer focused on the needs of vehicles of all driving types and produced a tire with safe handling, and impressive grip in all weather conditions. Continental also won “Environmental Achievement of the Year – Tire Design” for the UltraContact NXT, for striking the optimal balance between sustainability, safety, and efficiency. The third award is the “Tire Concept of the Year” for the Conti CityPlus. This state-of-the-art tire technology increases the total energy efficiency of a tire by up to 10 percent. The results are lower CO2 emissions from passenger cars with combustion engines and longer driving ranges for electric vehicles. The awards were presented at the Tire Technology Expo at the Hanover Exhibition Centre in Germany on March 19.
