Wacker to raise prices for silicones globally

WACKER SILICONES is scheduling further price increases for its products. Effective October 15, WACKER’s business division will increase prices on average by 30 percent or more. The measure is necessitated by ongoing significant cost increases for strategic raw materials, especially silicon metal, logistics and packaging as well as multiple corona pandemic measures. Critical components in the supply chain have multiplied in cost.

Continental divides ContiTech and Tires into independent business groups

The Supervisory Board of Continental AG approved adjustments to the structure of the Continental Group with a focus on market developments and customer requirements. The Executive Board decided on the organizational changes in September 2021 in view of the transformation of the mobility industry. Following the successful spin-off of Vitesco Technologies in mid-September 2021 and the decision taken in March 2021 to create the Autonomous Mobility and Safety and Motion business areas, this is the next logical step in accelerating the strategic realignment of the company.
With effect from January 1, 2022, the Tires and ContiTech business areas (currently consolidated in the Rubber Technologies group sector) will become independent group sectors and will continue to be led by Executive Board members Christian Kötz and Philip Nelles.

BKT inaugurates its new production plant in Waluj

Trial production has started at BKT’s new state-of the-art site in Waluj, in the Indian state of Maharashtra.
Result of a $ 56 million investment, its annual production capacity is around 30,000 MT of Off-Highway tires.
There would be around 500 people working at this plant, when it’s on full capacity, and at the plant will be manufactured medium and small diameter tires, designed for machinery operating in the agricultural and industrial industries.
