Firestone Liberia earns world’s first ISCC Plus certified natural rubber farm

Bridgestone announced its Firestone Liberia natural rubber growing and processing facility earned the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS recognition. The Firestone Liberia facility is the world’s first natural rubber farm to achieve the ISCC PLUS certification.
The Firestone Liberia facility earned the ISCC PLUS certification for its efforts in reducing environmental impacts, utilizing resources efficiently and enhancing its capacity to adapt to, mitigate and build resilience to climate change. The certification also recognizes the farm for the implementation of good agricultural practices, ensuring proper working conditions, complying with local regulations and fostering effective management practices to facilitate ongoing growth and improvement.

Goldsmith & Eggleton announces carbon black masterbatch plant enhancements

Goldsmith & Eggleton LLC (G&E), a Ravago company, announced the completion of a year-long improvement plan for its carbon black masterbatch (CBMB) plant. These improvements have been designed to minimize the handling of carbon black and rubber in the mixer, improve ergonomics, and increase batch-to-batch consistency. The improvements to the plant are part of a long-term strategy to offer the marketplace with innovative polymer solutions with a focus on sustainability and a circular economy. Hexpol Compounding to invest in devulcanization line in Czech Republic

The rubber compounding arm of the HEXPOL Group has announced an investment in a devulcanization line in Europe. This allows them to offer mechanical devulcanization of rubber in-house and supports the transition to a circular economy. Evonik expands production of precipitated silica at US site by 50 percent

The new line in South Carolina is satisfying the high demand in particular from the tire industry in North America and makes the supply chains of Evonik partners in the region resilient by enabling local silica sourcing.

Silica is a key ingredient for fuel-efficient tires and other products like toothpaste or coatings. The group is investing a mid-double-digit million Euro amount. The construction of the new production line is scheduled to begin in mid-2024. Operations will start in early 2026.

Michelin acquires sixth AddUp FormUp 350 metal 3D printer for tire molding

Michelin Molding Solutions (MMS) in Greenville, SC purchased their second AddUp FormUp 350 Powder Bed Fusion (PBF) machine following the successful installation and operation of their first one in 2022. This machine is the sixth added to an expanding global fleet of FormUp’s currently in use across Europe and North America. Thanks to the productivity and serial production capabilities of AddUp’s Additive Manufacturing (AM) machines, each new FormUp 350 replaces five legacy AM machines.
