SUMMARY:Rubber Division ACS Endurica Workshop: Viscoelastic Effects in Elastomers and Impact on Durability
DESCRIPTION:Do you want to better understand the dynamic mechanical data generated by your rubber lab? This course will clarify the reasons for the various temperature\, frequency and strain sweeps that are used in dynamic testing of elastomers (especially filled rubber) and discuss the impact of the viscoelastic behavior on heat build-up and durability of rubber products. This specialized training will benefit materials engineers\, compounders\, rubber chemists\, product development engineers\, R&D scientists and rubber lab managers at manufacturers of tires and rubber parts and companies that supply raw materials. \nObjectives:\n– Know the key viscoelastic signatures of rubber and how to characterize with testing\n– Learn about self-heating (heat build-up) in elastomers\n– Understand how strength and fatigue lifetime are affected by viscoelastic dissipation (hysteresis) and temperature \nOverview:\n– Overview of viscoelasticity and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA)\n– Key viscoelastic signatures of elastomers and how to effectively characterize with dynamic testing\nGlass-to-rubber softening transition\nTime(frequency)-temperature superposition\nPayne effect\nMullins effect\n– Viscoelastic self-heating (heat build-up) and blow-out\n– Predicting temperature rises in rubber applications from energy dissipation/hysteresis\n– Effects of hysteresis and temperature on elastomer durability

SUMMARY:Rubber Division\, ACS Course: Rubber Formulating 1.0
DESCRIPTION:Course Description: The first day will consist of training needed to be able to develop a simple compound and mix procedure. At the end of day one\, a compound specification will be given to the class along with a list of available raw materials. They will have a half hour to prepare a formulation and processing instructions. During the second day\, ACE will mix and test each formulation submitted to see how close they got to meeting the specification. We will review why each compound performed as they did and identify potential modifications to make. \nA cured sample sheet from each person’s compound will be sent to them as a souvenir. The person who gets the closest to meeting the specification will receive a prize and massive bragging rights.

SUMMARY:Rubber Division\, ACS\, Endurica Workship: Characterizing Elastomer Fatigue Behavior for Analysis and Engineering
DESCRIPTION:Learn the essential principles and practices of material characterization for fatigue life prediction\, and strategies and procedures for planning effective fatigue test programs as well as making effective use of crack nucleation and fracture mechanics tools. The live\, online delivery of our Characterizing Elastomer Fatigue Behavior for Analysis and Engineering workshop includes lectures and exercises for a thorough understanding of the science behind Endurica’s workflow and software solutions. This course is a LIVE training event and a link to the presentation of each class will be made available to registrants for their reference/review. These links will be active for seven days after the class date so attendees will have time to make up classes they may not be able to attend live. This course will NOT be distributed or broadcast beyond this time period.
