Zochem improved safety, wellness and giving during 2020

1/13/2021 - Dickson, TN - Zochem has taken the initiative to strengthen and fortify its place within its community, as both a valued employer and contributor to local business and causes in 2020. With manufacturing facilities in Dickson, TN, and Brampton, Ontario, Canada, this multinational zinc oxide manufacturer has worked to continuously improve its health, safety and environmental compliance. The company was recently named to the top ten “Best Places to Work for 2020” by Rubber and Plastics News. Employee feedback was a key indicator of the high levels of engagement in health and safety improvements at both company plants. These efforts needed to be further amplified in 2020 with the added challenges of the CV-19 pandemic, and results have been positive. Both facilities were recognized for the past two consecutive years by the Association for Rubber Products Manufacturers (ARPM) with its “Gold Safety Award,” presented to an organization exemplifying above and beyond safety programs and results within the rubber manufacturing industry. President and CEO Mohit Sharma outlined: “We want to have every employee healthy, and ready to play an important role in helping us to produce industry-leading zinc oxide products that exceed customer expectations. Each employee is critical to maintaining support for team members, customers, and even their communities.” Sharma went on to add: “In this year where the economic and mental strain has been so great on our communities, Zochem has stepped up to contribute more than ever to local charities in both the Dickson, TN, and Brampton, Ontario areas. At the same time, and in a down-economic market, we have rewarded plant employees with CV-19 bonuses for their day-to-day safety measures since the pandemic began. These essential workers have followed safety protocols and maintained a welcoming and trustworthy environment for their peers.” Vice President of Sales Ed Smith remarked: “The holiday season is always a time for giving, but we felt that it was even important this year. We selected local charities and foundations that were especially in need because of the heightened challenges that have come along with CV-19.” Zochem has built its sustainability story on safety and environmental compliance, supported directly by the board of directors and employees, and shown through years of commitment. The foundation of this philosophy is a focus on people, community, and being the standard for all things zinc oxide. Brampton Plant Manager Shahram Mehdian closed with: “When we provided a CV-19 bonus to our staff, one employee advised immediately that they will be paying it forward to charity. That employee is what Zochem is all about.”
