United States seeks Mexico’s review of alleged denial of workers’ rights at Goodyear plant

United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai announced that the United States has asked Mexico to review whether workers at a facility operated by Goodyear SLP, S. de R.L. de C.V. in the city and state of San Luis Potosí are being denied the rights to freedom of association and collective bargaining. The request, which was made in response to a petition, marks the eighth time the United States has formally invoked the Rapid Response Labor Mechanism (RRM) in the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).

Goodyear, University of Akron set to drive opportunity for local students

The Goodyear Foundation (Goodyear) is committing $1.6 million to The University of Akron (UA) for a new program designed to increase job readiness training for underserved students called The Driving Opportunity Scholars Program. Goodyear’s gift will support full tuition and fees scholarships for 15 undergraduate students over the next three years, with the first five beginning this fall. Selected freshmen will represent a wider range of under-represented communities in the workplace and will be enrolled in a training and mentoring program for up to five years.

Goodyear and Enovos to build Luxembourg’s first large solar carport

The first power station will be a photovoltaic carport consisting of 1,500 solar panels, covering a parking lot of around 4,000 square meters. With an annual production of 657,500 kWh, the carport will be the first in Luxembourg of this scale and will generate enough energy to supply a number of households.
Completion of the first station is targeted for August 2021, while plans for the second power station are targeted for 2022.
When finished, both stations will produce annually around 5 GWh of electric power and reduce carbon emissions by around 50,000 tons for the next 20 years, while providing clean energy yearly for more than 1,200 households.
