Goodyear announces pricing of €400 million European senior notes

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company announced that its European subsidiary, Goodyear Europe B.V. (“GEBV”), has priced its private offering to eligible purchasers of €400 million aggregate principal amount of senior notes due 2028 (the “notes”). The notes will be senior unsecured obligations of GEBV and will be guaranteed on a senior unsecured basis by Goodyear and certain of its wholly owned U.S. and Canadian subsidiaries that also guarantee Goodyear’s obligations under certain of its senior secured credit facilities and senior unsecured notes

Yokohama Rubber revises its procurement policy for sustainable natural rubber

The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., announced that from this September it is applying a revised version of its Procurement Policy for Sustainable Natural Rubber. The revision incorporates the policy framework adopted by the Global Platform for Sustainable Natural Rubber (GPSNR) at its second general assembly held in September 2020 into the procurement policy established by Yokohama Rubber in October 2018. Sumitomo Rubber North America announces price increase for U.S. and Canada

Sumitomo Rubber North America will increase prices in the US and Canada on Falken and Ohtsu Brand Passenger, Light Truck and Medium Truck Tires as well as implementing inline adjustments on a per size basis. The price increase of up to 10% will be effective October 1, 2021.

Enviro’s recovered oil and carbon black receive ISCC sustainability certification

The oil and carbon black that Scandinavian Enviro Systems recovers from end-of-life vehicle tires in its plant in Åsensbruk have been accredited under the International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) scheme. In doing so, Enviro has become the first company in the world to receive ISCC certification for recovered carbon black, and the certification is also confirmation of the previously communicated higher commercial values of both carbon black and oil.

NGC launches Acti-Tech grade approved for food contact applications

NGC thereby enlarges its portfolio of Acti-Tech compatibilizer with Acti-Tech compatibilizer 16MA11F, which is compliant with EU food regulation 10/2011. This functional polymer can be added to both PE or PP based formulations and tailored to the process equipment due its optimized melt flow.
Quentin Le Piouff, market development manager for NGC, says: “With this latest addition, we are offering processers and recyclers an easy-to-add and universal compatibilizer for polymer blends used in diverse applications.” “It is also an ideal solution to upcycle mixed polymer feeds from PIR or PCR, enabling the use of these recycled plastics into existing products without lowering end properties,” continues Kevin Barthomeuf, chief technology officer for NGC. Such a food contact compliant compatibilizer is suitable for many industries besides food packaging and recycling. As Quentin points out: “We are still exploring the fit in new applications for our product range.”

Tire Industry Association elects three new members and re-elects a fourth to its board of directors.

Ivory Coast issues new law requiring all rubber to be processed before export

The West African country’s parliament approved the law on Monday, according to a statement issued Tuesday.

“Through the adoption of this text, we have just given a boost to the promotion of the industrialization of Ivory Coast, the only guarantee of our country’s development,” said Emmanuel Esmel Essis, the country’s minister in charge of promoting private investment.

Mr. Essis stressed the need “to go for added value, which will help us build a strong prosperous country where all will benefit from economic growth and fallouts”.

Prior to this law, only 50% of the country’s rubber was being processed before shipment onto the world markets.
