Continental has been setting standards for greater sustainability with its retreading of truck tires since 1903. The premium tire manufacturer has been using retreading to extend the service life of tires for more than 120 years – conserving resources and reducing costs. Continental retreads more than one million truck and bus tires worldwide every year. According to a study by the Fraunhofer Institute for Environmental, Safety and Energy Technology (UMSICHT), retreaded tires reduce CO2 emissions by up to 50 percent compared to new tires. The amount of recycled and renewable materials in retreaded tires can be up to 85 percent. In terms of traction, grip and safety, retreaded tires from Continental are every bit a match for new tires.

In the production contest organized by Fraunhofer Austria and the Industriemagazin, Engel’s large-tonnage machine plant in St. Valentin won the title of “Factory of the Year 2023” and was thus named the best production company in Austria. The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., announced that it is supplying its ADVAN V61 tires as original equipment (OE) to Lexus for use on the new compact SUVs, the LBX, sales of which will be launched in Japan, Europe, Asia and other markets in December 2023. The new LBX is being fitted with 225/55R18 98H and 225/60R17 99H.

Synthos and OMV are committed to a long-term cooperation on sustainable butadiene production until 2030, according to the ISCC-Plus standard, initially using palm fatty acid distillate (PFAD) and used cooking oil as feedstock. In addition, the MOU commits to future cooperation on circular butadiene derived from pyrolysis oil obtained from end-of-life tires and underlines the transition of both companies to a more circular economy

Scandinavian Enviro Systems has hired Fredrik Emilson, former CEO of Höganäs AB, as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer. Emilson takes office in February 2024 at the same time as current CEO Thomas Sörensson moves to a role as senior advisor.
