The majority (54 percent) of younger drivers in Germany (up to the age of 34) see cars as a status symbol. This is a key finding of the representative mobility study conducted in August 2024 by market research institute infas on behalf of Continental in Germany, China, France, Japan and the USA. In Germany, 1,000 people aged 18 and over were surveyed about their mobility needs. According to a study commissioned by HORIZONT in 2017, for example, only 25 percent of younger respondents viewed cars as a status symbol.

Braskem has announced a collaboration with the University of British Columbia (UBC) to explore the feasibility of using an electrochemical reactor to produce methanol from CO, an important intermediate that can be obtained from CO2 Capture and Conversion. The Trelleborg Group, through its Trelleborg Sealing Solutions business area, has signed an agreement to acquire the US company CRC Distribution. The company is a specialist distributor in polymer sealing solutions and related value-added services in hydraulics, hydropower, oil and gas, as well as for pumps and compressors.

CRC Distribution is based in Robertsdale, Alabama, in the US. Its business is focused primarily on the domestic market but has recently expanded into the Mexican market as well. The company has steadily built up a strong sales organization and offers an advanced e-commerce solution for seals. CRC Distribution generates annual external sales of just over SEK 170 M.

Pirelli and Bosch have signed a joint development agreement. It aims at jointly creating new software-based solutions and driving functions thanks to sensors integrated into tires, also known as in-tire sensors. For drivers, this means greater control, comfort, and sustainability, as well as improved driving dynamics. Bosch and Pirelli share the vision of working long term and have the intention to explore together enhanced tire signal computing logic as potential input for enhanced vehicle dynamic controllers.
