Milliken & Company announced named Allen Jacoby as EVP and president of its textile business, assuming full operational responsibility for the company’s textile product portfolio. Jacoby has served as the company’s Chief Strategy Officer and SVP of Corporate Development and Innovation since 2021 and will succeed David Smith who is retiring after 45 years of dedicated service to Milliken, starting as an intern and working his way to the board room.

Avient Corporation announced the launch of OnColor™ REC Polymer Colorants, formulated with pigments derived from recycled content, including end-of-life tires. They offer an alternative to traditional carbon black formulations and can help manufacturers reduce their product carbon footprint (PCF).

OnColor REC Polymer Colorants can perform comparably to traditional carbon black in plastics. They are versatile, can be used in multiple resins, and are available in standard and custom color formulations. Additionally, they meet strict regulatory requirements, passing Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) and Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) standards and certification by TÜV Rheinland. Proposition 65 letters are also available.

Henning Karbstein will be taking over the management of KRAIBURG TPE for the North, Central and South America region as of October 1, 2024. He will be managing the operational business of the global TPE manufacturer from its location in Buford, Georgia. Mr. Karbstein has extensive experience from the automotive and engineering industries and is taking over from Jeff Frankish, who is retiring after 17 successful years.

Smithers announced the appointment of Michael Zier to the Laboratory Operations Manager role for Smithers Medical Device Testing Division new Germany laboratory.

Michael Zier has a wealth of experience in developing and testing of pharmaceutical combination products, including the associated regulatory requirements and international testing standards. As the Laboratory Operations Manager, he will develop testing protocols, ensure regulatory compliance, manage laboratory technicians, and work directly with clients to understand their goals and to ensure that client projects are on time.

Darcy Robison serves as vice president and chief sustainability officer for The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. Robison, who joined Goodyear in 2023, has more than 20 years of experience in sustainability, corporate and social responsibility, regulatory compliance, environmental, health and safety (EHS), and advancing sustainability in a large manufacturing organization. She joined Goodyear from Pentair, where she held roles with increasing responsibility in sustainability, EHS and quality. Robison holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Missouri-Rolla (now Missouri University of Science and Technology) and a master’s degree in environmental science and policy from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.

RDAbbott announced the retirement of Scott Legleu, a rubber industry veteran with 43 years of service. Scott joined RDAbbott as a Business Development Manager in 2017 but began his rubber industry career decades earlier after working as a schoolteacher in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Colleagues from across the industry and throughout Scott’s long and successful career describe him as honest, helpful, kind, and a good listener. The Rubber Division, ACS plans to honor Scott with a Service Award during their International Elastomer Conference. This award ceremony will take place Thursday from 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM in Expo Theater #2 in the David Lawrence Convention Center.

Infinium and Borealis have entered into an agreement to enable the production of low-carbon-footprint plastics generated from waste carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions that would otherwise be released into the atmosphere. These plastics, known as polyolefins, are commonly used in manufacturing consumer goods including packaging, appliances, apparel and medical devices.
