Nexen Tire named OEM for Porsche Cayenne Sports SUV

NEXEN TIRE announced that the tire manufacturer received OEM approval for the new high-end Porsche Cayenne Sports SUV that will be equipped with the N’FERA SPORT SUV tires.

The N’FERA SPORT SUV is a premium tire for tailored SUVs made at the NEXEN TIRE European plant. The company supplies its tires for new cars and has asymmetrical patterns that are appropriate for high-speed driving and excellent drainage performance thanks to a 3+1 wide groove.

J.B. Hunt, Bridgestone and Kodiak surpass 50,000 autonomous long-haul trucking miles

Utilizing Kodiak’s hub-to-hub autonomous delivery model, the long-haul stretch of the route from Atlanta to Dallas – approximately 750 miles and 16 hours – is completed using Kodiak autonomous driving technology, which is fitted with Bridgestone M719 drive tires and R213 steer tires. J.B. Hunt transports the trailers to and from Bridgestone facilities and Kodiak hubs. The companies leverage J.B. Hunt 360box®, a fluid network of 14,000-plus company trailers, to secure capacity for the return trip from Dallas, preventing empty miles and improving route efficiency.

Continental significantly increases earnings in the second quarter

Continental ended the second quarter of 2024 in line with its expectations. As announced, the company significantly increased earnings in all three group sectors compared with the first quarter of this year. The technology company also posted much stronger earnings year-on-year. In the Automotive group sector, price adjustments and initial savings from cost-cutting measures had a particularly positive effect. The Tires group sector achieved good results thanks mainly to the strong tire-replacement business, especially in Europe. In a weak industrial market environment, ContiTech also benefited from price adjustments and strict cost discipline. Furthermore, Continental has adjusted its outlook due in large part to lower expected production of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles.

Toyo Tires name Wally Holst as director of sales, eastern division

Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp. (Toyo Tires®) announces Wally Holst as the new director of sales, eastern division. Kenny Fredrick, who previously held the position, will be retiring after more than 10 years with the company and over 35 years in the tire industry.
With more than 27 years of experience in the tire industry, Wally Holst will bring the leadership and deep understanding of Toyo’s customer base essential for managing the eastern sales division. Returning to the company after 11 years, Holst previously served as the Toyo regional sales manager for car channel sales.

Yokohama Rubber holds information exchange event with natural rubber suppliers

The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., and its Singapore subsidiary Yokohama Rubber Singapore Pte. Ltd., held a “Suppliers’ Day” for suppliers of natural rubber in Singapore in this past July. The event was part of Yokohama Rubber’s efforts to promote procurement of sustainable natural rubber, facilitating the exchange of information and establishing a common awareness of supply chain issues. The July 2024 event was the fourth “Suppliers’ Day” held by the company, following events in 2016, 2018, and 2022.
