The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) has chosen AGC’s FORBLUE™ S-SERIES fluorinated ion exchange membrane for use in the electrolysis process of its oxygen generation system test model. This system is a crucial component of life support networks in development for human space habitations. Given the stringent requirements for equipment used in space, which must exhibit exceptional durability and energy efficiency under harsh conditions, JAXA’s decision was based on the membrane’s outstanding performance in previous component tests.

Continental has concluded a long-term purchase agreement with Pyrum Innovations, a specialist in the thermolysis technology of end-of-life tires, for particularly high-quality carbon black (rCB) recovered from end-of-life tires. Continental intends to use recovered carbon black in the series production of passenger car tires in the future. The two companies are thus intensifying their cooperation. The premium tire manufacturer had already signed a development agreement with Pyrum Innovations in 2022. Since then both companies share the common goal to further optimize and expand the recycling of end-of-life tires through pyrolysis.

After five successful years at KraussMaffei, Nolan Strall, President of KraussMaffei Corporation (KMC) in America, is leaving the company at his own request on August 31, 2024, to pursue new professional challenges. Continental has upgraded its material compound for commercial vehicle air springs and will present its Tough RuNR air springs at the IAA Transportation in Hanover in September. In this product, the company’s material experts within the ContiTech group sector have substituted synthetic rubber with natural rubber that has been improved thanks to the addition of ethylene-propylene-diene rubber (EPDM). As a result, the rubber compound’s carbon footprint has been reduced by more than 50 percent compared with conventional air springs.
