The company will refocus the facility on mixing and the aviation sector, moving the majority of its commercial tire production to other locations. This strategic move aims to enhance the competitiveness of the Danville plant and align it with Goodyear’s broader business objectives.

The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., announced that it has begun supplying its ADVAN Sport EV tires as original equipment for the new ONVO L60 SUV launched by Chinese premium electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer NIO Inc. in China in September 2024. The tire size is 245/50R19 101V.

The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., announced that in December 2024 its natural rubber processing subsidiary in Thailand, Y.T. Rubber Co., Ltd. (YTRC), provided needed food packages to villagers affected by floods caused by heavy rains in southern Thailand, including the country’s Surat Thani Province, where YTRC is located. YTRC provided a package consisting of 5kg of rice and twelve 500ml PET bottles of water to each of 235 households in two neighboring villages.

The Timken Company has announced significant layoffs at its Springfield, Missouri plant, a move that will affect nearly 100 employees. This decision comes as part of Timken’s broader strategy to streamline operations and adjust to changing market demands. The Springfield plant, which has been a key player in the local economy, will see a reduction of about 40% of its workforce, with layoffs beginning in March 2025 and continuing through September.

Firestone’s Des Moines Ag Tire Plant has recently introduced a voluntary separation program, offering severance packages to employees willing to leave the company. This decision comes as the agricultural manufacturing industry faces ongoing demand constraints, prompting the company to reduce its workforce. The voluntary separation option is available to all employees, except those in the Maintenance and Powerhouse departments, and aims to minimize the impact of potential layoffs.
