In response to growing demand, the WACKER chemical group is expanding its production and cartridge filling capacities for silicone sealants at its Nünchritz site. The expansion will increase the company’s capability to supply customers, who contract WACKER to produce ready-to-use silicone sealants for their direct sales. Some €20 million has been budgeted for the new manufacturing lines, which are scheduled to begin production in the fall of 2024. Construction is expected to start before the end of this year, subject to approval from the regulatory authorities involved. The expansion project will create additional new jobs at the site.

– Dow announced the expansion of its silicone sealant products to offer photovoltaic (PV) module assembly materials, furthering the global movement toward renewable energy. The newly launched DOWSIL™ PV Product Line with six silicone-based sealants and adhesives solutions can be used to deliver durability and proven performance for frame sealing, rail bonding, junction box bonding and potting, and building integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) installation materials.

At the COMPAMED 2022 exhibition, HEXPOL TPE officially launched their medical TPEs with bio-attributed content according to the mass balance principle. Adding to their growing portfolio of materials that enable a shift away from fossil feedstocks.

Elkem Silicones celebrated the grand opening of its new specialized facility for producing high purity medical silicones on Wednesday, September 28, in York, S.C. Customers and local, state, and federal officials, attended the event which included a ribbon-cutting ceremony, facility tours and a reception.
Designed to produce high purity silicone materials that meet the MedTech and Pharma market requirements, this new 18,000 sq.ft. site features state-of-the-art ISO-certified Class 7 and Class 8 clean rooms
