The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., announced that it is supplying its GEOLANDAR X-CV tires as original equipment (OE) for Toyota Motor Corporation’s first-ever Grand Highlander Midsize SUV, which was launched in North America in June 2023. The Grand Highlander is being fitted with 255/65R18 111H and 255/55R20 107V size tires.

The number of apprenticeships at the Freudenberg Group in Weinheim has increased by a total of 40 percent compared to last year. “70 young talents are starting their training at Freudenberg. This means a 40 percent increase for our company at the site. At the same time, it demonstrates the responsibility we live by to invest in the future of young people in the long term and to actively counteract the shortage of skilled workers,” said Raúl González, Head of the Training Centre. “We also train 45 apprentices for association partners.” Today, a total of 115 young people are starting their training in a modern training centre. Worldwide, the Freudenberg Group is training some 500 young people in 15 countries for the labour market of the future.

The business is currently part of Plastikon Industries. Plastikon Automotive is a Tier One and Tier Two automotive interiors, assemblies and electric vehicle (EV) battery housing supplier.

– Continental has appointed Manja Greimeier as Head of its Tires’ Original Equipment business area, effective August 1, 2023. In this role, she is responsible for the tire manufacturer’s global original equipment business for passenger and commercial vehicles. Elkem has decided to accelerate maintenance at its plant in Iceland. The accelerated maintenance will curtail production by temporarily shutting down one furnace at the ferrosilicon plant in Grundartangi, about 40 kilometers from the capital Reykjavik. The decision will have no impact on customers or employees.
