Impacts of compounding and test variations on the abrasion of an NBR based shoe sole

An article covering the effects of carbon nanotube type and loading level on the abrasion resistance of a model tire tread compound was published in the January 2023 issue of Rubber World. Another consumer product with interest in having its abrasion resistance improved is the shoe sole. In this study, several modifications were made to an NBR based work boot outsole compound, and the compounds were subjected to a variety of abrasion tests.
