Intralox announce $60 million expansion for its molding and assembly operations

Hammond, LA – Intralox is expanding operations at its Hammond, Louisiana, location. This time, the company is more than doubling its footprint with a $60 million expansion that will create 425 direct jobs as Intralox expands its molding and assembly operations.

The expansion supports Intralox’s strong growth and enables increased production for the company. The facility, set to be complete by the end of 2022, will bring the Hammond plant’s total footprint to over 400,000 sq ft while increasing belting output by 50%. The Hammond facility produces modular plastic conveyor belts which are used in food, industrial, and e-commerce industries. Belts and components produced at the state-of-the-art facility are shipped to Intralox assembly facilities across the world. This major U.S. expansion comes as Intralox celebrates its 50th year in operation.

With the new facility, we will rapidly increase our production and assembly capacity,” said Intralox President Edel Blanks. “We look forward to expanding our local workforce with the added benefit of meeting the increased demand of our customers around the world.”

Intralox has invested over $300 million over the past five years in a significant expansion of its global footprint which includes new facilities in Baltimore (U.S.), Australia, and The Netherlands, and multiple expansions to its global headquarters in Louisiana.

The 425 direct new Intralox jobs in Hammond will result in increased economic activity, and tremendous success for this homegrown company.”

Louisiana Economic Development estimates the project will result in 582 indirect jobs, for a total of more than 1,000 new jobs in Louisiana’s southeast region. Jobs created will be a mix of non-technical, technical, and engineering jobs and will be added over the next eight years.

This is the third major expansion of the Hammond plant since 2017. In 2017, Intralox Hammond expanded its molding operation by 60,000 sq ft and in 2019, an automated warehouse was added.
