Smithers achieves NADCAP accreditation for non-metallic materials testing
Akron, OH – Smithers announces that its chemical and physical testing laboratories in Akron, Ohio are now Nadcap accredited for non-metallic materials testing.
The National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program, called Nadcap, conducts quality assessments of industry suppliers to ensure conformity throughout the global aerospace supply chain. Nadcap accreditation requires adherence to stringent requirements, which are assessed via on-site audit. Accredited organizations are included in the Nadcap Qualified Manufacturers List (QML).
Smithers’ scope of accreditation for non-metallic materials testing includes: Mechanical testing, including tensile ambient temperature, tensile strain measurement, tensile/elongation, flexural ambient temp, flexural strain measurement, and impact strength; Physical testing, including density/specific gravity; Chemical testing, including IR/FTIR; and Composites.
“Smithers is deeply committed to providing accurate data and excellent service to our clients in the aerospace industry, and we are very proud to offer additional value to this growing sector via this accreditation,” said Dr. Jim Popio, Vice President of North American Operations, Materials Science and Engineering, Smithers. “Our testing experts understand the rigorous performance expectations of aerospace components and can support the product development and validation needs of companies throughout the aerospace supply chain.”
