Smithers promotes Tim Rice to manager of commercial operations

Akron, OH – Smithers announced the promotion of Tim Rice from commercial lead engineer to manager of commercial operations for its distribution testing laboratory in Lansing, MI.

In his new role, Rice will leverage the commercial strategy of accurate data, on time, with high touch, with operational excellence for package and distribution testing in North America and lead a team of commercial engineers. He will continue to work directly with clients to support their testing needs.

Rice has over fifteen years of experience in packaging and distribution. Prior to joining the Smithers team in 2013, he worked at QiG Group, Edwards Lifesciences and Cardinal Health. He has a Bachelor of Science in packaging from Michigan State University.
