Zeppelin Systems expands production capacity with new facility in Italy

Friedrichshafen, Germany – As a full-service provider of turnkey systems with twelve subsidiaries worldwide, solution provider and plant manufacturer Zeppelin Systems supports its customers globally with profound engineering experience. Together with Nuova Ciba, which was acquired in 2018, Zeppelin Systems has been active in the Italian market for many years and is now reaffirming its commitment with the inauguration and opening of new, modern premises at the competence center in Reggio Emilia, covering an area of over 5,000 square meters. In addition to expanding its production capacities, the company is also pooling its expertise for the tire and rubber industry, the plastic and polyolefin industry and the food sector. A heterogeneous, modern site with a homogeneous message: We Create Solutions for our customers and a modern and attractive workplace for our employees!
In order to optimally serve the needs of its customers, Zeppelin Systems has steadily expanded its range of services in the rubber and tire segment in recent years. In 2018, the Zeppelin Group acquired 100 per cent of the shares of the Italian company Nuova Ciba S.p.A.; plant manufacturer Zeppelin Systems thus underpinned its expertise as a global full-service provider of turnkey systems for the production of rubber compounds. The next milestone in the expansion and further development of the Italian market in the rubber and tire, food and polyolefin sectors is now imminent: The inauguration of new premises by Zeppelin Systems Italy and Nuova Ciba in the Italian city of Reggio Emilia on October 29, 2024. ‘The new premises in the Reggio Emilia industrial estate are a benefit for our customers, our suppliers and also our employees. They are very conveniently located, as we have excellent connections via network of motorways as well as the high-speed train line between Rome, Bologna and Milan,’ explains Marco Ferrari, Managing Director of Zeppelin Systems Italy. And he continues: ‘Our customers will benefit from the even faster availability of spare parts, among other things, as we are also introducing a new warehouse system,’ adds Ferrari. Zeppelin Systems Italy already has a strong footprint within the Polyolefin business in Italy and wants to strengthen its position even further with the newly inaugured competence center in Reggio Emilia. Same goes for the food business: “We want to be even more present in this market in Italy and cannot wait to welcome plenty of customers here”, adds Marco Ferrari proudly.
The new facility serves as a center of competence for three business lines, underlining the diverse portfolio of plant engineering expert Zeppelin Systems. Also, the investment in Italy is a commitment and statement of the Zeppelin Group, believing in the vast potential and future prospects of the Italian market. Customers from the rubber and tire sector will be supplied even better in future from the newly created competence center in Reggio Emilia and the new premises will also provide Italian customers from the food industry with a modern and innovative contact point where they can obtain advice from experienced experts. The new branch in Reggio Emilia also perfectly covers the polyolefin business sector with over 5,000 square meters of space.
Ralf Boschert, Managing Director and CFO of Zeppelin Systems GmbH, added at the inauguration of the new premises: ‘As with all our buildings and premises, sustainability is an important factor for us. That’s why we installed solar cells on the roofs when we remodeled the building. The electricity generated is sufficient to autonomously supply the offices and production facilities in Reggio Emilia. In summer, we can even sell on surplus electricity. We have also installed thermal insulation, which reduces heating costs in winter and the use of air conditioning in summer. This has significantly improved the building’s CO2 balance,’ says Boschert.
From October 29, Zeppelin Systems Italy, together with Nuova Ciba, will be located on an area of over 5,000 square meters with expanded production capacities, even more efficient production processes and an even larger spare parts warehouse in Reggio Emilia. The remodeling work at the new site took around six months. From Reggio Emilia, the company will in future not only serve customers from the tire and rubber industry, but also from the food and polyolefin sectors. The official opening of the new premises took place on October 29 in the presence of company representatives, employees and important stake holders.
