Dow to launch automotive and upholstery leather finishing silicone free from BTEX

Midland, MI – Dow has developed a silicone feel modifier technology free from benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene, and xylenes (BTEX) for use in the automotive and upholstery industries. This material is designed to address the growing demand for a more sustainable footprint in natural and synthetic leather finishing. Consumers today are looking for natural and synthetic leather in automotive interiors and upholstery that not only offers a luxurious look and feel but also complies with regulatory specifications. Dow’s new generation silicone technology addresses both demands, maintaining enhanced haptics, matting, abrasion resistance and durability.

On Monday, June 26, at 9 a.m. EST, Isabelle Riff, as well as Bertrand Lenoble, principal scientist, and Myron Hooks, scientist, Dow Leather, will present a webinar titled: “Enhancing Leather Haptics through Responsible Chemistry.” During the virtual presentation, they will explain the performance attributes of Dow’s novel silicone feel modifier technology.
