Joel Neilsen replaces the retiring Dave Schultz as technical editor of Rubber World Magazine
Akron, OH – Joel Neilsen has been named the new technical editor for Rubber World magazine, taking over from Dave Schultz, who is retiring at the end of the year. Neilsen brings 46 years of experience in the rubber industry. He graduated with a degree in chemical engineering from Cleveland State University and started his career at BFGoodrich Tire in Akron, OH, focusing on tire development and production. He later worked in sales development at Uniroyal Chemical, served as a technical service representative for Bayer (now Lanxess) in rubber chemicals and synthetic elastomers, and provided technical service at Sid Richardson Carbon.
Before joining Rubber World, Neilsen was a technical support representative for the Rhein Chemie business unit of Lanxess, specializing in predispersions for rubber compounding. He co-authored the technical article, “Health, Environmental Safety, and Efficiency of Rhenogran Predispersions,” featured on page 48 of this December 2024 issue of Rubber World.
Dave Schultz has been a dedicated contributor to Rubber World since his retirement from Harwick Standard Distribution in 2019, where he spent 35 years in technical service. Schultz remains active in various organizations, including the Rubber Division of the ACS, the Ohio Rubber Group, and the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE). He has also played a key role in organizing local conferences, such as the TPE TopCon, for the past 15 years.
All of us at Rubber World would like to thank Dave for his many years of service to our industry and as a friend to us and our customers. We would also like to welcome Joel and look forward to working with him for many years into the future.
