China National Tire & Rubber to build car tire plant in Egypt

Cairo, Egypt – China National Tire & Rubber Co., Ltd, the company behind brands such as Pirelli, Prometeon, and Aeolus, has announced plans to build a new car tire manufacturing plant in Egypt. This development was confirmed following a meeting between Egypt’s Prime Minister, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, and Wang Jianjun, Chairman of China National Tire & Rubber, on January 13, 2025.

The new plant will be located in Al-Amiriya, Alexandria, adjacent to the company’s existing heavy-duty tire factory. This expansion is part of a two-phase investment strategy aimed at bolstering the company’s production capabilities in Egypt. The first phase involves doubling the production capacity of the current heavy-duty tire factory, while the second phase will see the establishment of the new passenger car tire plant on a 180,000-square-meter land plot2.

This strategic investment is expected to significantly boost local production, meeting the growing demand for tires in Egypt and providing a substantial portion for export. The existing factory in Al-Amiriya already spans 300,000 square meters and has an annual production capacity of approximately 1.1 million tires, with 70% of its output being exported.

Prime Minister Madbouly expressed his support for the project, highlighting its potential to create job opportunities and contribute to the local economy. The new plant is anticipated to provide numerous employment opportunities, further strengthening the industrial sector in Alexandria1.

Wang Jianjun emphasized the importance of this investment for China National Tire & Rubber’s global strategy, stating, “Our expansion in Egypt is a testament to our commitment to meeting the increasing demand for high-quality tires worldwide.
