Michelin improves their X Works Z2 & D2 tires

Clermont-Ferrand, France – Michelin announces the new MICHELIN X® Works Z2 & D2 range will deliver excellent results in terms of fuel savings and longevity without compromising other key performances:

Reduced CO2 emissions: the new tread design reduces rolling resistance while improving traction and reducing noise. It is also the first range of on- and off-road tires to obtain a B label for rolling resistance on the steer axle.

Longer lifespan: up to 10% longer for the steer axle and up to 25% longer for the drive axle by comparison with the previous range.[1]

High-level robustness and retreadability: 90%[2] of MICHELIN casings are accepted for REMIX retreading. Moreover, the sidewall protectors give the tires greater robustness.

A load index compatible with electric vehicles: the load index is 158/150, or up to 8.5 tonnes for single fitment as opposed to 8 tonnes for the previous model.

Optimal traction and grip throughout the tire’s lifespan: traction is consistent even under the most demanding conditions, whether the tire is new or used. The grip metric is high, with a 3PMSF marking, for improved mobility.

On June 1, 2025, Michelin will launch the MICHELIN X® Works Z2 & D2 range for the 315/80R22.5 size. This launch was followed by the 13R22.5 X® Works Z2 & D2 and the 385/65 X® Works HL Z2 sizes in September 2025.

Designed for short on- and off-road journeys in regional and urban areas, the MICHELIN X® Works Z2 & D2 range is available for both steer and drive axles. It is marketed throughout Europe.

A new range developed to optimize profitability and promote vehicle fleets’ ecological transition
Fleets operating in the construction and waste-management sectors must overcome challenges such as the high cost of fuel, which represents up to 30% of expenditures, the EU regulation on CO2 emissions, and adapting operations to environmental requirements.

Moreover, minimizing vehicle downtime is essential for a fleet manager to maintain operational efficiency and guarantee customer satisfaction. Vehicle downtime is a major issue that directly impacts profitability and employee safety.

On the strength of its longevity, robustness and low rolling resistance, the MICHELIN X® Works Z2 & D2 range helps optimize fleets’ running costs while reducing their environmental impact.
