Arkema achieves global ISCC PLUS Certification for powder coating resins

Paris, France – Arkema has announced the completion of ISCC PLUS certification for all its polyester powder coating resin facilities worldwide, marking a significant milestone in its sustainability roadmap. The latest site to receive certification is located in North Kansas City, Missouri, joining previously certified facilities in Sant Celoni, Spain, and Navi Mumbai, India.

This achievement is part of Arkema’s broader Mass Balance initiative, which aims to reduce the carbon footprint of its coatings products by integrating bio-attributed and recycled feedstocks into its manufacturing processes. The ISCC PLUS certification ensures that fossil-based raw materials are being replaced with sustainable alternatives through a rigorous, traceable bookkeeping method. This system attributes the certified inputs to the final products, supporting transparency and accountability across the supply chain.

Linda Armitage, Business Manager for Powder Coating Resins at Arkema, emphasized the importance of this milestone, stating that it reflects the company’s long-term commitment to sustainability and innovation. Powder coating resins, which are solvent-free and highly durable, are increasingly seen as key enablers of low-waste, eco-friendly solutions in industries ranging from consumer electronics and automotive to architectural finishes and metal furniture.

The certification also supports Arkema’s strategic goal of becoming a pure player in Specialty Materials. The company’s Coating Solutions segment, which includes powder coatings, is central to this transformation and accounts for a significant portion of its global sales. By offering a complete portfolio of bio-attributed specialty resins—including high solids, waterborne, UV-LED-EB, and polyester powder materials—Arkema is helping customers worldwide meet their sustainability targets.
