Silicone High Consistency Rubber (HCR) plays a vital role in demanding applications such as high-voltage insulation, mobility, wire and cable, aerospace, and industrial sealing. Its unique combination of thermal stability, mechanical resilience, and process versatility makes it an ideal material when long-term reliability and performance under stress is required.
Through custom compounding, tailored HCR formulations can meet customer-specific needs for enhanced electrical insulation, greater flame resistance, more mechanical strength, and improved thermal conductivity. Today, thermally conductive HCR compounds are becoming increasingly critical in applications that require both heat dissipation and electrical isolation, such as in electric vehicle (EV) components and high-voltage cable terminations.
Through a detailed case study, webinar participants will learn how a custom thermally conductive HCR compound from Dow Performance Silicones was developed to meet stringent thermal and mechanical requirements. This custom compound delivered improved thermal conductivity without compromising dielectric strength or processability, showcasing the power of collaborative innovation between material scientists and end users.
