USTMA supports Moore amendment on stormwater control technology
Washington, DC – The House Rules Committee met to consider amendments for H.R. 3684, the “Investing in a New Vision for the Environment and Surface Transportation (INVEST) in America Act of 2021.” Among over 200 amendments offered is the Moore Amendment, which would establish five centers of excellence to conduct research on stormwater control infrastructure technology. The U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA) identified the importance of this amendment as it creates much needed opportunities to supplement existing research and knowledge gaps regarding the use of tire derived aggregate in stormwater infiltration galleries, a consequential component in improving our nation’s stormwater infrastructure.
“Centers of excellence not only allow us to increase our capacity to conduct quality research regarding innovative technologies like tire derived aggregate, but they also act as a hub of information for states that want to integrate this material in their own infrastructure projects,” said Anne Forristall Luke, USTMA president and CEO. “The Moore amendment is essential to ensuring we are utilizing the best available technology in stormwater control systems across our country.”
USTMA issued a letter to the House Rules Committee in support of the Moore Amendment which you can find here.
