RD Abbott to host free webinar about Thermax N990CG carbon black
Garden Grove, CA – On Thursday, September 24, 2026, from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM (ET), RDAbbott will host a free webinar called: “Thermax N990CG: A Low PAH Thermal Black for Food Contact Applications.” This session will explore Cancarb Limited’s Thermax N990CG, a special grade of thermal carbon black that meets U.S. and EU requirements for low levels of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH).
Among its advantages, Thermax N990CG medium thermal carbon black:
Holds an FDA Food Contact Notification (FCN No. 240) for rubber articles intended for repeated use with food (CFR 177.2600).
Meets EU 10/2011 carbon black requirements, enabling its use in water gaskets
Serves as a drop-in replacement for standard Thermax N990 while ensuring compliance with stringent regulatory requirements

Ed Norton is the Technical Service Manager for Cancarb, where he conducts studies on thermal carbon black and provides technical service and support to the marketplace. He joined Cancarb as a Technical Marketing Representative in 2018 after spending seven years with Alpha Technologies, where he worked as an Applications Specialist and provided technical support and training on rheometers. Ed earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and an M.S. in Polymer Engineering from the University of Akron.
Chris Sawicki serves as the Manager of Americas Marketing for Cancarb, where he collaborates closely with customers and distributor partners across the Americas, specializing in both rubber and non-rubber applications. He joined Cancarb in 2017 as a Customer Service Representative. Prior to joining Cancarb, he served various purchasing and accounting roles outside of the industry. Chris holds a diploma in Business Administration – Marketing from Medicine Hat College and is an active member of the Rubber Division, ACS Membership Committee.
