AI analytics and digital twin enabled predictive optimization for wire calendering
Wire calendering embeds steel cords into heated rubber sheets to produce reinforced plies whose stability directly influences tire uniformity, durability and rolling resistance. Because these plies cannot be reprocessed, even small deviations in gum thickness, alignment or cord spacing result in immediate scrap. Traditional control systems operate reactively, responding only after deviations are detected at downstream measurement points, which limits their effectiveness during warmup, long production runs and product changeovers. This article introduces an integrated AI analytics and digital twin framework that transforms calender control from reactive to predictive. Read Now
