Gurgaon, India – To commemorate the National Farmers Day, Apollo Tyres felicitated the remarkable achievements of farmers, who have embraced sustainable agriculture, acknowledging their commitment to preserving the environment, improving food security and fostering stronger communities.
Shri Mulrajsinh Vaghela, District Livelihood Manager, Vadodara and Ms Radhika Jadeja, Assistant Director of Horticulture, Gujarat State Government Office, Gandhinagar felicitated the farmers.
The felicitation event was a vibrant celebration of sustainable agriculture, with farmers proudly showcasing their exceptional organic products. Notably, six remarkable farmers stood out as change agents, exemplifying the power of sustainable practices. They received well-deserved recognition, highlighting the importance of innovation in agriculture.
Apollo Tyres, through Apollo Tyres Foundation (ATF), is driving sustainable agriculture by promoting environmental sustainability, biodiversity and community well-being through targeted training programmes for farmers. ATF has positively impacted 3,261 farmers in Gujarat, Kerala and Tamil Nadu, by providing them training support on enhanced crop planning, improving soil health and utilising organic manure.
One of the farmer beneficiaries, Ms Geetaben Shantilal Parmar, said “I felt uneasy initially when ATF encouraged me to transition to sustainable practices instead of sticking to conventional agriculture. Change can be hard to implement, especially when it’s something linked to our daily livelihood. However, I soon realised this was a chance to redefine my approach, Now, I enjoy the benefits of farming that uses fewer resources, promotes a rich diversity of crops and livestock, and enhances my ability to respond to the unique conditions of my local environment.”
These farmers are now at the forefront of building a resilient and healthy food system and their sustainable practices can serve as models for others.
