Atire launches world’s first carbon-neutral solid tire range

Columbo, Sri Lanka – ATIRE announces that its premium range of solid tires is now certified carbon-neutral. This marks a historic achievement in the tire
industry, as ATIRE becomes the first company in the world to launch a carbon-neutral solid tire range.
In November last year, ATIRE was certified as a carbon-neutral organization by the Sri Lanka Climate Fund (SLCF), positioning itself as the pioneer in net-zero emission solid tire manufacturing. The company has now reached a new milestone by launching the world’s first product-level certified carbon-neutral solid tire range.

The certification extends across a variety of ATIRE’s products, including:
RunnerSolid™, RockSolid™, RunnerBand™ – The world’s first carbon-neutral certified resilient and press-on forklift tires.
TeleSolid™ – The world’s first carbon-neutral telehandler tire.
SkidSolid™ – The world’s first carbon-neutral skid-steer tire.
RunnerLift™ – The world’s first carbon-neutral scissor lift and aerial work platform (AWP) tire.
TrailerSolid™ – The world’s first carbon-neutral solid tire for port applications.

Additionally, ATIRE’s non-marking tire versions have also earned the distinction of being the world’s first carbon-neutral non-marking solid tires.
The carbon-neutral certification was issued by Control Union, a globally recognized certifying body, under the guidelines of ISO 14067:2018 for product carbon footprints and ISO 14068:2023 for carbon neutrality. ATIRE’s carbon neutrality is certified within a “Cradle-to-Gate” framework under Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), meaning that all greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from raw materials, manufacturing operations, and the final product up until it leaves the factory are accounted for. Over the past several years, ATIRE has transformed its manufacturing processes, meticulously measuring and reducing emissions across the company. This transformation includes several sustainability initiatives:

Less Wear, Less Waste: By producing longer-lasting tires, ATIRE reduces landfill waste, keeping tires in use longer and lowering environmental impact.
Maximizing Solar: 85% of ATIRE’s facility roofs are covered in solar panels, providing renewable energy for its operations.
Plant Fuel over Fossil Fuel: ATIRE uses 100% bio-mass generated steam, eliminating fossil fuel use in steam generation, significantly reducing emissions.
Emerging Technologies: Advanced nanotechnology reduces energy consumption during the tire curing process by over 15%, optimizing efficiency.
Greener Commute: 9 in 10 employees use ATIRE’s free shuttle service, cutting down on commute-related emissions.
Reuse, Reduce, Recycle: ATIRE recycles more than 80% of its waste, reprocessing factory and compound
waste to minimize environmental impact.

Ajith Dharmasiri, General Manager of ATIRE, stated, “We have nurtured a culture of commitment to fighting climate change at every level of our organization, from factory workers to executive leadership. Everyone is aligned with our mission.”
ATIRE’s commitment to carbon management is supported by adherence to ISO Climate Management standards, ensuring the company’s carbon-neutral claims are credible, transparent, and science-based. This approach promotes comprehensive GHG accounting, life cycle strategies, and ongoing emissions reductions as the company continues to grow.

ATIRE’s carbon-neutral certification not only sets new industry standards but also highlights its commitment to sustainability. The company’s range of carbon-neutral industrial tires reflects its ongoing innovation in tire technology, focusing on both performance and environmental responsibility.
