Zeon Corp. has established Zeon Chemicals Kurashiki Co., Ltd. to take over the acrylic rubber business of its group company, Tohpe Corp.

Zeon established the new company on July 23, 2026. On Aug. 21, Tohpe and Zeon Chemicals Kurashiki signed an absorption-type company split agreement to transfer the acrylic rubber business. Zeon began the required procedures under Japan’s Companies Act on Sept. 3.

LANXESS has developed Vulkanox 4060, a new anti-aging agent for the tire industry. The innovative additive with the chemical name CCPD (N,N’-Dicyclohexyl-p-phenylenediamine) was designed as an alternative to 6PPD – an anti-aging agent used in nearly all tires to protect them from damage caused by oxygen and ozone. The degradation products of 6PPD, particularly 6PPD quinone, which has been linked to coho salmon die-offs in the U.S., have been the subject of criticism for some time. In environmental studies conducted to date, CCPD quinone, the corresponding transformation product of Vulkanox 4060, demonstrated no observed acute effects in coho salmon testing up to the solubility limit. With the completion of EU REACH registration, Vulkanox 4060 is now also approved for use in the European market.

49 young people are beginning their professional careers today at LYB in Wesseling-Knapsack. They are starting apprenticeships as chemical production technicians, electronics technicians for automation technology, industrial mechanics, and industrial business management assistants. The apprenticeship typically lasts three and a half years, but can be shortened to two and a half years based on prior achievements or performance during the apprenticeship.

Michelin announced that the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) and the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) have selected the company as the exclusive tire supplier for the Hypercar category of the FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) through the end of the 2032 season.

The decision, made following a tender process launched by the governing bodies, extends Michelin’s current contract, which was due to run through 2029, by three years.
