H.B. Fuller reports positive third quarter

The Company’s net revenue for the third quarter of fiscal 2024 was $918 million, up 1.9% versus the third quarter of fiscal 2023. Organic revenue increased slightly year-on-year, with pricing adjustments reducing organic revenue by 2.6% and volume increasing organic revenue by 3.0%. Foreign currency translation reduced net revenue by 1.5% and acquisitions increased net revenue by 3.0%.

TARDISS grants $26 million for alternative rubber research

Researchers from Texas Tech University’s Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources have joined with three other institutions as part of a National Science Foundation (NSF) Engineering Research Center (ERC).

The NSF ERC for Transformation of American Rubber through Domestic Innovation for Supply Security (TARDISS), led by Ohio State University, has been granted $26 million in federal funding. The aim of TARDISS is to bridge engineering, biology and agricultural fields to revolutionize and explore alternative natural rubber production from domestically grown crops.

India announces plans for new rubber park in Santirbazar

Minister Manik Saha announced plans for a new rubber park in Santirbazar, South Tripura District, during the Tripura Rubber Conclave-2024 held in Agartala. The two-day event highlighted the state’s growing importance in rubber production and its potential for industrial development.

Saha emphasized Tripura’s position as the second-largest rubber producer in India, accounting for 9% of the country’s total output. He noted the state’s rubber is internationally recognized for its quality, creating opportunities for various industries.

The new park will complement the existing facility in Bodhjungnagar, further expanding Tripura’s rubber processing capabilities. Saha also pointed out the state’s success in manufacturing high-quality rubber wood furniture, which is gaining popularity locally and in export markets.

IRGMA petitions government to ban Hartalega chlorinated medical gloves from entry into India

The Indian Rubber Gloves Manufacturers Association (IRGMA) has petitioned to the Union Minister of Environment, Forest & Climate Change Mr. Bhupender Yadav to take action against Mun Health Product (India) Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of Hartalega, a publicly listed company in Malaysia, for importing banned chlorinated gloves into the country through various ports.

In their strongly worded letter, the association requested the Union Government to prevent Hartalega, one of the largest manufacturers of rubber gloves, from dumping chlorinated gloves in the country through its subsidiaries. “At the port of entry, they mislabel chlorinated gloves as permissible imports, which are then sold to hospitals as medical gloves,” said IRGMA.
