Bridgestone announces recall of R123 Ecopia tires due to manufacturing defect
Nashville, TN – Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations, LLC has announced a recall of 1,185 R123 Ecopia radial commercial trailer tires, size 295/75R22.5, due to a manufacturing defect that could potentially lead to tire failure and increase the risk of a crash.
The recall affects tires manufactured at Bridgestone’s LaVergne, Tennessee plant during the 35th week of 2024. The defect involves the incorrect application of one of the three stabilizer ply belts, which may cause the tires to exhibit an overly convex tread shape when fully inflated. This condition can result in premature and irregular wear in the center of the tread, compromising the tire’s performance and safety.
Bridgestone has identified 24 tires with the defect, of which 18 have been contained, leaving six still in the field. The affected tires can be identified by the Tire Identification Number: 1D2 BT 4A6R 3524.
The company will replace the defective tires at no cost to the owners. Bridgestone will begin mailing notification letters to affected customers on May 13, 2025. Owners can contact Bridgestone customer service at 1-800-847-3272 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 for more information.
This recall underscores Bridgestone’s commitment to safety and quality, ensuring that their products meet the highest standards for performance and reliability
