Bridgestone selected to develop ultra-high-performance tire for new Audi e-tron

Brussels, Belgium – Bridgestone has been selected by Audi to develop custom ultra-high-performance tires for the new Audi e-tron GT family. This collaboration extends Bridgestone’s long-standing relationship with Audi, with nearly one in five Audi cars worldwide equipped with Bridgestone tires. As Audi’s trusted partner, Bridgestone has crafted a tire that aligns perfectly with the Audi e-tron GT’s ethos of “pure performance without compromise.”

The result is the Bridgestone Potenza Sport A, a premium tire designed to enhance the high-performance capabilities of the new Audi e-tron GT. This tire, globally OE-homologated, has passed Audi’s rigorous testing and is recognized for delivering the top performance required by Audi’s latest fully-electric S to RS performance models, while also ensuring outstanding safety and sustainability.

The Potenza Sport A is Bridgestone’s first mass-produced tire to incorporate 55% recycled and renewable materials, certified by the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS.

“Through tires like the Bridgestone Potenza Sport A, we’re proud to make mobility more sustainable, even for high-performing and powerful vehicles like the new Audi e-tron GT,” said Steven De Bock, Vice President Original Equipment at Bridgestone EMEA. “Our innovative tires are driving the next generation of electric vehicles. The Bridgestone Potenza Sport A marks the latest step in our trusted and strategic partnership with Audi.”

The Bridgestone Potenza Sport A tire offers best-in-class energy efficiency and extended battery range. It boasts an EU label A grade in rolling resistance, contributing to the Audi e-tron GT’s impressive range of around 500km. It also provides outstanding safety and control, achieving a best-in-class EU label A grade for wet grip, complementing the Audi e-tron GT’s precise steering response during dynamic driving.

The tire’s construction includes a unique tread design, reinforcement technology, and a carcass design specifically tailored to the e-tron GT. Bridgestone’s premium tire has been custom-engineered to optimize handling, performance, and ride comfort.

Robin Stettner, Tire Development Engineer at AUDI AG, stated: “With up to 925 PS of power, the Audi RS e-tron GT is a blisteringly quick car fully optimized for driving dynamics. The Bridgestone Potenza Sport A meets our high standards for safety and sustainability, making it the perfect fit.”

Developed with Bridgestone’s ENLITEN Technology, the Potenza Sport A improves sustainability characteristics and is fully EV-ready, without compromising safety or performance. ENLITEN Technology typically enables a lower environmental impact through CO2 emissions reduction, resource efficiency, and material circularity, using recycled and renewable materials. This technology platform allows Bridgestone to meet the major needs of electric vehicles like the Audi e-tron GT, including improved energy efficiency, outstanding control, and reduced noise.

The new Potenza Sport A tire demonstrates Bridgestone’s innovative capabilities to combine sustainability and performance, marking another key milestone on the company’s journey toward using 100% sustainable materials by 2050.

Developed in Europe, the Bridgestone Potenza Sport A will be available in 265/35 R21 101XL Y (front) and 305/30 R21 104XL Y (rear) sizes. The premium tire will be manufactured at Bridgestone’s cutting-edge plant near Rome, Italy, which achieved ISCC PLUS certification in 2022. The Roma plant is ISO 50001 certified for efficient energy management, and its entire tire production process is 100% electric
