Cambodia reports 14% revenue increase natural rubber exports for first quarter
Phnom Penh, Cambodia – Cambodia has achieved a significant milestone in its agricultural sector, earning 114.9 million U.S. dollars from the export of natural rubber latex in the first quarter of 2025. This marks a 14.4 percent increase compared to the same period last year, when the revenue stood at 100.4 million dollars.
According to the General Directorate of Rubber, the kingdom exported 59,754 tons of natural rubber latex from January to March 2025, which is a 13.8 percent decrease from the 69,322 tons exported during the same period in 2024. Despite the drop in volume, the average price per ton of rubber latex rose significantly, reaching 1,923 U.S. dollars in Q1 2025, up by 474 dollars from Q1 2024.
Khun Kakada, acting-director general of the General Directorate of Rubber, highlighted the importance of this price increase in offsetting the lower export volume. He noted that Cambodia’s rubber latex is primarily exported to Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, and China.
Cambodia has planted rubber trees on a total area of 425,443 hectares, with 330,259 hectares currently mature enough for tapping. This extensive cultivation underscores the country’s commitment to expanding its rubber industry and enhancing its export capabilities.
The rise in revenue from rubber latex exports is a positive indicator of Cambodia’s growing influence in the global rubber market. As the country continues to develop its agricultural sector, further investments and improvements in rubber processing are expected to bolster its economic growth.
