Pirelli, Pyrum, Synthos and BASF launch “Tire-to-tire”

Pirelli, Pyrum, Synthos and BASF are jointly advancing a tire-to-tire circular economy initiative in Europe, driving the development of an industrial ecosystem designed to increase the use of recycled materials derived from end-of-life and scrap tires.

The process draws on end of life tires collected across Germany, from some Driver retail outlets and motorsport activities, as well as scrap tires collected from Pirelli’s Breuberg plant. They are processed through an industrial chain designed to maximize their inner value, converting them into secondary raw materials – including synthetic rubber – certified under the ISCC PLUS scheme.

Continental achieves gold rating from EcoVadis

Continental has achieved 84 out of a possible 100 points in the latest EcoVadis Sustainability Rating, receiving a gold medal for its performance. With this result, the tire manufacturer ranks among the top 5 percent of companies assessed by EcoVadis worldwide. The assessment covers four themes: environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. This was the first time Continental was assessed in the “manufacture of rubber tires and tubes” industry category, having previously been rated in the “manufacture of parts and accessories” category.

RPM reports record fourth-quarter, full-year sales as adjusted earnings reach new highs

RPM International Inc. reported record sales for its fiscal fourth quarter and full year, driven by demand for engineered solutions used in high-performance buildings and infrastructure projects, acquisitions and pricing actions to offset inflation.

The specialty coatings, sealants and building materials company said fourth-quarter net sales rose 7.2% to $2.23 billion for the period ended May 31, up from $2.08 billion a year earlier. Full-year net sales increased 6.7% to a record $7.86 billion.

Mavis Tire to acquire Pep Boys for $700 million

Mavis Tire Express Services Corp. and Icahn Enterprises L.P. announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement pursuant to which a subsidiary of Mavis will acquire The Pep Boys-Manny, Moe & Jack Holding Corp. (“Pep Boys”) from Icahn Automotive Group LLC, a subsidiary of IEP, for approximately $700 million in cash, subject to customary purchase price adjustments. IEP will retain the owned real estate previously transferred to IEP from Pep Boys, as well as the AAMCO Transmissions and Precision Tune Auto Care Businesses.

Bridgestone awards $200,000 in grants to expand adaptive sports nationwide

Bridgestone announced the second round of support for its nationwide adaptive sports grant program. The program awards eight $25,000 grants to school districts and nonprofit partners, expanding access to sports for students with disabilities. The $200,000 in total funding, provided through the Bridgestone Americas Trust Fund, will directly benefit 1,439 students and 75 public schools across the United States.
