ENGEL supplies two 8,000-ton injection molding machines to North America

Austrian injection molding machine manufacturer ENGEL has set a new record with two injection molding machines delivered to the USA. With a clamping force of 8,000 tons each, they are the largest machines ever built at the St. Valentin plant in Austria. The two ENGEL duo 130000/130000H/8200 combi US machines were placed at Infiltrator Water Technologies (IWT) in Winchester, Kentucky. The subsidiary of Advanced Drainage Systems (ADS) produces water management products there.

Yokohama announces $82 million expansion of passenger car plant in India

The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., announced that it is expanding passenger car tire production capacity in India to meet the increasing demands from the local market. With an additional investment of US$82 million, the company looks to increase its annual passenger car tire production capacity in India with Yokohama India Pvt. Ltd. (YIN), its local passenger car tire manufacturing and sales subsidiary, from the current 2.8 million to 4.5 million tires.

Continental targets 2050 for tires made entirely from sustainable materials

Car tires are round, black and made of rubber. Look closer, however, and you’ll see that the design of tires and the interaction of the various materials that go into making them are extremely complex. But for some time now, the material experts and tire engineers at Continental have been bringing about a silent revolution. By 2050 at the latest, all tires are to be made of sustainable materials. There is still a long way to go until then. But step by step, it is already becoming apparent which raw materials will find their way into tire construction in the future. These include waste products from agriculture – such as the ash from rice husks – rubber from dandelions, recycled rubber or PET bottles.
