BASF Coatings signs strategic partnership agreement with Toyota Motor Europe

BASF Coatings and Toyota Motor Europe have signed an agreement to develop the Toyota Body&Paint program for Europe, building the foundation for a long-term strategic collaboration between the two companies for Toyota and Lexus brands. The partnership takes advantage of the premium automotive refinish solutions under the Glasurit and R-M brands in the European market. Arkema implements the Net Zero Initiative methodology to measure avoided CO2 emissions

Since 2023, Arkema has been working with Carbone 4, a consultancy firm specializing in low-carbon strategies, to measure and improve its customers’ environmental performance. This collaboration forms part of the Group’s commitment to providing solutions that contribute to a more sustainable,
low-carbon industry.

In line with new market and regulatory expectations, Carbone 4 developed the Net Zero Initiative, a methodology for calculating avoided emissions, in collaboration with the WBCSD (World Business Council for Sustainable Development). The initiative aims to provide companies with the tools they need to transition their operations toward making a fair contribution to global carbon neutrality. Recognized internationally since 2018, this methodology makes it possible to assess the CO2 avoidance of an innovative solution compared with a standard alternative.

Continental Tire plant in Sarreguemines receives ISCC PLUS sustainability certification

The Continental tire plant in Sarreguemines, France, recently received the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS sustainability certification. This globally recognized standard certifies that Continental meets specific documentation requirements relating to the use of renewable and recycled raw materials. It also confirms the completely transparent traceability of the raw materials used in the production process. Certification of the raw materials enables Continental to ensure the end-to-end traceability of materials from renewable and recycled sources. For the premium manufacturer, this is a further step on the way to more than 40 percent renewable and recycled materials in its tire products by 2030. In addition to the tire plant in Sarreguemines, the plants in Lousado (Portugal), Hefei (China), Puchov (Slovakia), and Korbach (Germany) are already ISCC PLUS-certified production sites of Continental Tires.

Continental appoints new executive board for Aumovio SE

The Supervisory Board of Aumovio SE confirmed the appointment of new members to the Executive Board of the future independent company. The Executive Board of Aumovio SE will be strengthened by four members alongside CEO Philipp von Hirschheydt, who was appointed on March 12, 2025. Ingo Holstein will assume responsibility for the Human Relations function as CHRO. CEO Philipp von Hirschheydt will take on the CFO role on an interim basis until the Supervisory Board appoints a suitable successor. The selection process has already been initiated. The business areas Safety and Motion, Architecture and Networking and Autonomous Mobility will be represented in the Executive Board by Boris Mergell, Jean-François Tarabbia and Ismail Dagli. Philipp von Hirschheydt will be responsible for the User Experience business area in the Executive Board. In the future, the business areas will form the reporting segments of Aumovio SE.

Continental develops sensor technology measuring internal EV motor heat

Continental has developed a new sensor technology that measures the temperature inside permanently excited synchronous motors in electric vehicles (EVs) directly on the rotor for the first time. The e-Motor Rotor Temperature Sensor (eRTS) delivers significantly more precise measurement results than the current software-based temperature simulation – with a tolerance range reduced from 15°C to just 3°C. This enables vehicle manufacturers to reduce the amount of rare earth elements used to increase the magnets’ heat resistance and to improve potential motor performance, which also means greater sustainability. The eRTS is one of several sensor technologies for EVs developed by the E-Mobility Sensors (EMS) product center in Continental Automotive.
