EBITDA before special items of €11.3 billion in 2021 was higher by €3.9 billion and EBITDA of €11.4 billion exceeded the prior-year figure by €4.9 billion.
At €7.8 billion, income from operations (EBIT) before special items more than doubled compared with 2020. This represented an increase of 67 percent compared with the pre-pandemic level in 2019. BASF’s positive earnings development was mainly driven by the Chemicals and Materials segments. Asahi Kasei announced at the end of January 2022 a change in the company’s management. As of April 2022, Koshiro Kudo will assume the role of President & Representative Director. The current President Hideki Kobori will become Chairman of Asahi Kasei.

The current Head of Sustainability Transformation, Richard F. Haldimann has been appointed to the newly created position of Chief Technology & Sustainability Officer and will report directly to our Chief Executive Officer Conrad Keijzer. Richard Haldimann joined Clariant twelve years ago. His professional experience in Innovation Excellence, New Business Development, and Sustainability Transformation combines both innovation and sustainability in an ideal way. Richard has been leading the work on the development and execution towards the science-based targets for Scope 1, 2 & 3 greenhouse gas emissions, as well as the roadmaps for the sustainability driven portfolio change and climate neutral and sustainable operations.

David Colletti has joined Bridgestone as President, Consumer Original Equipment Tire Sales, North America. As President, Colletti will lead all original equipment tire activities for the North America market, including long-range planning, sales, operations, marketing and program management. In addition, he will be responsible for setting the growth strategy for the company’s original equipment tire business with a key focus on expanding the company’s offering beyond tires to include sustainable mobility solutions

As of January 1, 2022, Dr Christian Meermann has joined Gummiwerk KRAIBURG & Co. KG as Global Sales Director. Meermann, who holds a PhD in chemistry, brings wide experience from management roles in the international sales and marketing of polymers.
After his chemistry studies at the Technical University of Munich and completion of his Doctorate at the University of Bergen in Norway and Osaka University in Japan, followed by a short postdoctoral position at the CAT Catalytic Center, he began his professional career in 2009 at Ticona (Celanese) in the catalyst and polymer research.

From now on, the TractorMaster and VF TractorMaster product lines are part of the tire portfolio for the New Holland T5, T6 and T7 tractor series. These New Holland tractors series will also be equipped with Continental tires of various sizes to better meet customers’ needs. The tire portfolio ranges up to a tire width of 710mm and a rim diameter of 42’’.

ChemSpec Canada, Inc. announced the hire of Bassem Soss Khalifa as Regional Account Manager with responsibility for the company’s Eastern Canada territory.

Bassem brings more than 14 years of progressive chemical industry sales experience to the newly created role. His wealth of skills in the coatings, plastics, consumer and personal care segments will assist the company in achieving goals that align with the broader mission and priorities of parent company, Safic-Alcan, and affiliate, ChemSpec, Ltd (USA).
