Since 2017, thousands of Goodyear associates, retirees and family members have contributed more than 27,000 hours of volunteer service as part of Global Week of Volunteering activities. This year, more than 1,300 Goodyear volunteers will participate in volunteering activities at 23 locations across 21 countries worldwide.

International TPE compounder HEXPOL TPE has added to their growing portfolio of Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE) materials containing recycled content. The new Dryflex Circular MWR TPEs contain recyclate coming from post-use maritime ropes.For the MWR raw materials, HEXPOL TPE is working with PLASTIX A/S, a Danish plastic recycling company specialising in sorting and recycling plastic fibre waste from the maritime industry. They convert used fishnets, trawls and ropes that would previously have ended up in the ocean or on landfill into high-grade and virgin-like raw material.

– The PIRELLI 35 inflatable boat made by Tecnorib, licensee of the PIRELLI and PZERO trademarks for inflatable boats, has won the Red Dot Design Award 2022, one of the most important accolades in the world for the last 30 years, assigned by a jury of about 50 international design experts. – The world’s largest tire companies, via the U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA), thanked the National Lieutenant Governors Association (NLGA) for reaffirming its commitment to helping promote vehicle tire safety as a core public welfare priority. U.S. Tirere Manufacturers Association (USTMA) announced that it supports the proposed rulemaking released by the California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) to designate 6PPD in automobile tires as a priority product for review under the state’s Safer Consumer Products green chemistry program.
USTMA and its member companies recommended adding 6PPD to the Priority Products Work Plan immediately following the December 2020 Tian et al. study that suggested a link between Coho salmon mortality and a transformation product of 6PPD from tire and road wear particles (TRWP) called 6PPD-Quinone. Tire manufacturers have taken seriously the Tian et al. study and more recent scientific findings which indicate that 6PPD-Quinone, a previously unknown transformation product of 6PPD – an essential antioxidant and antiozonant used in tires – has contributed to the mortality of coho salmon and potentially poses risks to other aquatic species in the Pacific Northwest.

MARPG announced that they are kicking off 2022 with a Spring Technical Lunch & Learn. The event will be on Thursday, May 26 from 12:00-1:30 PM. This will be a virtual event, but they are planning to have an in-person Fall Technical meeting, as well as resume our annual Education Symposium at Lehigh University in November.
