“Can we make a rally-inspired version of the Mustang Mach-E?” – That’s the message that greeted Ford product planners Peter Schultz and Craig Migliori on an early morning in 2022. To answer that question, they took a hand-me-down Mach-E GT, added some wheels and off-road tires, and headed up to Ford’s Michigan Proving Grounds to see if it could handle some laps in the dirt. The team knew from the beginning that the Mach-E Rally not only needed an appearance worthy of the nameplate, but also needed some real rallycross-inspired capability.

Firestone adds sustainably sourced raw materials to race tires for 108th running of the Indianapolis 500

Using the sustainably-sourced monomers in this year’s Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 race tires is the latest example of Bridgestone’s efforts to prove and accelerate the use of sustainable materials and technologies through motorsports and the NTT INDYCAR SERIES.
All Firestone Firehawk race tires for the NTT INDYCAR SERIES are manufactured at Bridgestone’s ISCC PLUS-certified Advanced Tire Production Center (ATPC) in Akron, Ohio. The facility was awarded the certification in 2022 for its transparency and traceability of sustainable raw materials including bio, bio-circular, and circular-based synthetic rubber.

During the subscription period, models are added to the Virtual Tire Lab library and include a variety of popular brands, sizes, and categories; such as all-weather, all-season, and EV-specific tires. French, former Chairman and CEO of French Oil Mill Machinery Company, with the prestigious General Award at its 64th Annual General Meeting on May 7, 2024, in Bangkok, Thailand. Yokohama Rubber to expand motorsports tire production capacity at its Mishima Plant

Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., announces its plan to expand motorsports tire production capacity at its Mishima Plant in Mishima City, Shizuoka Prefecture. Yokohama Rubber will invest about ¥3.8 billion in a new line that will produce 18-inch and larger motorsports tires, expanding the plant’s capacity for motorsports tires by 35%. Construction will begin in the third quarter of 2024, and production on the new line is planned to begin near the end of 2026 and be brought up to full capacity in the third quarter of 2027

Bostik to relocate Schwepnitz polyurethane plant to Romania

Bostik announced that production at the Schwepnitz location will be gradually relocated and the branch will be closed by the end of 2025.

This measure continues the strategy of concentrating technological focuses at individual production locations. The shift primarily affects the PU foam and sealant portfolio for the bonding, sealing and filling segment. In the future, silicones will be produced in Borgholzhausen (Germany) and Oosterhout (Netherlands) and PU assembly foams in Buftea (Romania).

University of Michigan researchers leap toward carbon neutrality converting CO2 to methanol

Researchers at the University of Michigan have developed a catalyst material known as cobalt phthalocyanine that converts carbon dioxide—a significant driver of climate change—into renewable fuels such as methanol.

Published in the journal ACS Catalysis, U-M researchers studied using cobalt phthalocyanine as a catalyst to convert carbon dioxide into methanol through multiple reaction steps. The first step converts carbon dioxide (C02) into carbon monoxide (CO) and the second step converts the CO into methanol.
