The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in collaboration with TNO, has announced a significant advancement to vehicle safety systems. The integration of tire intelligence technology into the automatic emergency braking (AEB) system of a vehicle has demonstrated the potential to mitigate crashes, particularly in challenging road conditions.

The Times of India reports that India’s natural rubber (NR) production has grown 8.6% from 7.89 lakh ton in FY21-22 to 8.57 lakh ton in FY23-24 with industry estimating it will hit 8.82 lakh ton in FY24-25.

Shashi Singh, president, All India Rubber Industry Association (AIRIA), said: “By 2030, NR production in India should hit one million ton, but consumption has been growing significantly too. Currently NR consumption in India is 14.16 lakh ton which is estimated to go up by 5% and close at 14.86 lakh ton by end of FY24-25.”

The RAOT’s Rubber Economic Research Division has analyzed data on the affected rubber plantation areas using rainfall data from the Meteorological Department’s radar. Thunderstorms and light to moderate rainfall have impacted rubber plantations in these provinces, with an estimated 5,592,621 rai of plantations opened for tapping. This has led to a loss of over 142,963 tons, or 24.75 percent, of the area’s rubber production for December 2024 due to the weather conditions, which have prevented farmers from tapping rubber and damaged tapping equipment.
