Bridgestone Americas (Bridgestone) announced it has introduced new functionality to enable direct referrals from its consumer websites to over 900 TireConnect affiliated dealers across the U.S. and Canada. This new feature now provides customers the option to quote, request an appointment or purchase online from any TireConnect-enabled dealer directly from the Bridgestone and Firestone websites. This lead-transfer capability will provide a meaningful boost in tire leads and sales to independent dealers who can now benefit from the millions of customers visiting Bridgestone’s corporate websites, just like national retailers.

Goodyear is recalling more than 170,000 tires that were produced between 1996 and 2003 and sold for use on trucks and recreational vehicles. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found that these tires experienced a high rate of failure on RVs when compared to similar tires. Tire failure at highway speeds can lead to serious injury or death.

Rubber Division, ACS announced that they are once again making Cleveland, Ohio their anchor host city for the International Elastomer Conference on the odd number years. Exhibitors and attendees truly enjoy Cleveland as an IEC host city, and it has always proven to be a very successful IEC host. That, in combination with a proven history of strong participation from both attendees and exhibitors when in Cleveland, led to the decision. Continental Tire issued a recall on several tires in the TKC80, ContiGo!, K62, and LB lines due to the potential for cracks in the tread longer than 3/16 of an inch to develop in the tread grooves. This condition could lead to tread separation, which could increase a rider’s risk of a crash

Pirelli has doubled the total number of tire approvals on electric and plug-in hybrid cars in 2021. Since the launch of the ‘Elect’ marking in 2019, car manufacturers are increasingly choosing this technology and have allowed Pirelli to expand the homologation portfolio exceeding 250 total homologations on ‘green’ cars. This result confirms the acceleration of the market towards electrified mobility but also how carmakers find Pirelli Elect tires to have the most suitable characteristics for their electric vehicles. For example, the Audi A6 Avant e-tron concept, exhibited in the Pirelli stand at the “Tire Cologne” fair currently underway, which fits tires with technology for electrified cars. These facts lead Pirelli to estimate that it will reach already in 2022, three years ahead of schedule, its target for market share in high end EVs of around 1.5 times that of Premium/Prestige internal combustion vehicles.
