The Tire Industry Project (TIP) has announced that it has welcomed the Australian Tyre Industry Council (ATIC), the British Tyre Manufacturers’ Association (BTMA), and the Automotive Tyre Manufacturers’ Association (ATMA) of India as Affiliate Members.

PPG expects to complete the review of strategic alternatives by mid-2024. There is no assurance that the review will result in any transaction or other outcome. PPG does not intend to disclose developments or provide updates on the progress or status of the review unless and until it deems further disclosure is appropriate or required.

Registration is now open for the second Educational Workshop on March19-20, 2024 in Fort Worth, Texas.

This year’s workshop will focus on two different tracks: Modification 101 and Modification 201. Join industry veterans with a treasure trove of knowledge to present on these topics. The Educational Workshop will not only be a great way to gain knowledge, but also to network with other industry personnel.

Liberty Tire Recycling has announced the hiring of Andrew Meurer as president and chief commercial officer.

Meurer joins Liberty after spending more than 12 years at Michelin, most recently as vice president of sales for the North American Passenger Tire Division. Prior to Michelin, Meurer spend decades at Procter and Gamble and Kimberly-Clark.

In accordance with Continental’s sustainability ambition, the group sector ContiTech has taken the next concrete steps towards transforming its own production facilities into sustainable factories. ContiTech recently installed a new PV system in Timișoara, Romania. Other locations are expected to follow in the coming months. Furthermore, the group sector has chosen three production facilities worldwide as pilot projects to find the best approach for carbon neutral operations.

Continental and Aurora Innovation announced they have achieved a key development milestone to commercialize autonomous trucks at scale. The companies have finalized the design and architecture of the future fallback system and hardware of the Aurora Driver – an SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) Level 4 autonomous driving system – that Continental plans to start production of in 2027. The finalized hardware design comes less than a year after the companies entered an industry-first partnership aimed at high-volume manufacturing of autonomous trucking systems.

Klas Dahlberg currently holds the position as Head of Business Area NIBE Climate Solutions. He has been with NIBE since 2016 and he has been responsible for NIBE Climate Solutions since 2018. Prior to joining NIBE, he had a successful international career spanning over a 30-year period with the Scania group, with his last position being responsible for the division of Buses & Coaches. Klas has lived and worked in Germany for many years. He holds a M.Sc. in Engineering from Lund University, Sweden.

The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd. introduces the newest tire to its lineup—the ADVAN dB V553 is a premium comfort tire that will provide a superbly quiet ride throughout its useful lifespan. The ADVAN dB V553 initially will be launched in Japan and Asian markets from February 2024. Yokohama Rubber plans to provide the new tire in 46 sizes, ranging from 225/45R21 95W to 155/65R14 75H.

FLAME GUARD SWR-70 was developed for use on sintered ore and coke transport lines at steel mills and coal transport lines at coal-fired power plants. In addition to being flame retardant (self-extinguishing), a quality for which demand has increased in recent years as line operators seek to enhance safety, FLAME GUARD SWR-70’s super wear resistance lengthens the belt replacement cycle, reducing running costs and contributing to stable line operation.

The company signed a long-term PPA for 125 MW of renewable electricity sourced from TotalEnergies’ Brazoria Solar project in Brazoria County, Texas. The 15-year agreement is expected to generate approximately 300,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) of solar power annually, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of more than 28,000 American homes. The project is expected to commence operations at the end of 2025. This is the company’s second PPA with TotalEnergies.
