The AMAP Educational Workshop in Fort Worth Texas, originally scheduled for March 2024, will now be taking place in March 2025.

Exhibitor registration for K 2025, The World’s No. 1 Trade Fair for Plastics and Rubber, is now open online at www.k-online.com/2330. The deadline for reserving exhibit space at K 2025 is May 31, 2024. The event will be held from October 8 – 15, 2025 at the fairgrounds in Düsseldorf, Germany. K 2022 exhibitors can easily register for K 2025 with their existing log-in and make necessary changes on the registration form. First-time exhibitors will be guided step-by-step through the online application process.

KraussMaffei announces that Rafl Benack is the new managing director of Extrusion EMEA as of January 1st, 2024. As Managing Director, he is responsible for the Extrusion EMEA’s business and the development of the Extrusion technology worldwide.

Ralf Benack comes from Continental AG, where he worked for almost 20 years, most recently heading the tire management solutions business for commercial end users in EMEA. Prior to that, the economics graduate was responsible for sales and marketing of truck tires in the Asia-Pacific region as well as project management in research and development for tires at Continental.

At the Tokyo Auto salon Toyo Tires presented its Sustainable Concept Tire. The tire, using 90% sustainable materials is a step forward towards a more viable future mobility. Until now, the highest ever usage rate of sustainable materials in one of our tires was 50%. This achievement was made in the Open Country tires used in the 2024 Dakar Rallye. This latest development, unveiled today, dramatically surpasses this share.

The Tire Industry Project (TIP) has announced that it has welcomed the Australian Tyre Industry Council (ATIC), the British Tyre Manufacturers’ Association (BTMA), and the Automotive Tyre Manufacturers’ Association (ATMA) of India as Affiliate Members.

This year’s workshop will focus on two different tracks: Modification 101 and Modification 201. Join industry veterans with a treasure trove of knowledge to present on these topics. Liberty Tire Recycling has announced the hiring of Andrew Meurer as president and chief commercial officer.

Meurer joins Liberty after spending more than 12 years at Michelin, most recently as vice president of sales for the North American Passenger Tire Division. Prior to Michelin, Meurer spend decades at Procter and Gamble and Kimberly-Clark.

In accordance with Continental’s sustainability ambition, the group sector ContiTech has taken the next concrete steps towards transforming its own production facilities into sustainable factories. ContiTech recently installed a new PV system in Timișoara, Romania. Other locations are expected to follow in the coming months. Furthermore, the group sector has chosen three production facilities worldwide as pilot projects to find the best approach for carbon neutral operations.

Continental and Aurora Innovation announced they have achieved a key development milestone to commercialize autonomous trucks at scale. The companies have finalized the design and architecture of the future fallback system and hardware of the Aurora Driver – an SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) Level 4 autonomous driving system – that Continental plans to start production of in 2027. The finalized hardware design comes less than a year after the companies entered an industry-first partnership aimed at high-volume manufacturing of autonomous trucking systems.
