In the production contest organized by Fraunhofer Austria and the Industriemagazin, Engel’s large-tonnage machine plant in St. Valentin won the title of “Factory of the Year 2023” and was thus named the best production company in Austria. Together with the other ENGEL production sites, the plant forms a global and high-performance network for manufacturing at the cutting edge of technology.

Continental uses carbon black from recycled racing tires in its production of solid tires. To this end, a total of 300 CrossContact Extreme E racing tires were processed using a special pyrolysis process. With this initiative, the premium tire manufacturer is integrating sustainable circular economy solutions into its tire production. By recovering carbon black, virgin raw materials can be saved and CO2 emissions reduced. Since September 2023, Continental has been producing solid tires – whose main application is in forklifts – with recycled carbon black at its plant in Korbach (Germany). Both recycled car and truck tires are used to produce these tires

The fire is reported to have started in a building which is housing raw materials, including carbon materials. Some of these are highly flammable.
Elkem Salten is located in Straumen, in the Sørfold municipality in Nordland county in the north of Norway. It is one of the world’s largest and most modern silicon plants exporting silicon and silica fume products worldwide. The plant has around 200 employees. With its three furnaces, the plant has an annual production capacity of 128,000 mt, of which silicon capacity is 80,000.

On November 30th the official opening of VMI’s South East Asian service center took place in Chonburi, Thailand.

Just in time for winter, Yokohama Tire has launched the 907W™, a premium, extreme traction drive tire which is designed for fleets and operators who are looking to keep trucks rolling in snow and icy conditions.

The 907W, which replaces the SY767™, carries the three-peak mountain snowflake symbol, which means it meets or exceeds the industry’s required performance criteria for severe snow service. It is available now in the U.S. in three sizes: 295/75R22.5, 11R22.5 and 11R24.5.

Under the MOU, the two companies will conduct a joint research and development project for Neodymium-Butadiene rubber using Bio-Butadiene and expand the use of environmentally friendly synthetic rubber in tire manufacturing.
