Goldsmith & Eggleton (G&E), a Ravago company, announced that it has been awarded the Belgian Quality Association QA-CER System 2 certification for Recycled Content. The certification’s scope assessed the processing, quality, and management systems for the production of recycled rubber polymers. The BQA QA-CER Recycled Content guarantees the validity of the recycling process through to the finished product to support the principle of sustainability. The QA-CER System 2 assesses the technical specifications of G&E’s product, internal and external documentation organization, and overall product management.

As the sole distributor of Nouryon’s proprietary LumaTreat™ polymers, Brenntag Specialties can offer a portfolio including the patented LumaTreat™ smart-tagged polymers, Aquatreat™, Versaflex™, and Versa™ polymers which offer scale control and dispersancy. These polymers prevent calcium phosphate, calcium carbonate, and other deposits that can produce scale deposits.

WACKER will introduce an additive masterbatch for polyethylene compounding at the 22nd International Trade Fair for Plastics and Rubber. Marketed as GENIOPLAST® PE50S08, this silicone product makes it easier to manufacture ready-to-use polyethylene molding compounds. It also improves the surface properties of the resulting plastic products. The polyethylene masterbatch can, for instance, be used for extruding films or for improved processing of recycled polyethylene compounds. K 2022 will take place in Düsseldorf, Germany, from October 19 to 26.

The process industry strike in Norway has still not been resolved. Following the initial preparations, production has now been stopped or scaled down at all of the four affected Elkem plants: Salten, Rana, Thamshavn and Fiskaa.

Huntsman Corporation announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to sell its Textile Effects division to Archroma, a portfolio company of SK Capital Partners. The total enterprise value of the transaction is approximately $718 million, which includes the assumption of approximately $125 million in net underfunded pension liabilities as of December 31, 2021. The acquisition is being partially funded with preferred equity, of which Huntsman is taking up to $80 million, an amount SK Capital Partners will seek to syndicate prior to the transaction closing.

Bridgestone Americas (Bridgestone) announced its Firestone Polymer Engineering Pilot Center (PEPC) in Akron, Ohio, has earned the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS recognition for its transparency and traceability of sustainable raw materials including bio, bio-circular and circular-based material to replace synthetic rubber in its transition to a circular economy.
