Applications open for 2026 Polyurethane Innovation award

The Center for the Polyurethanes Industry (CPI) of the American Chemistry Council (ACC) is now accepting applications for the 2026 Polyurethane Innovation Award, which recognizes companies and individuals whose vision and perseverance bring groundbreaking polyurethane technologies, products, and initiatives to market.
Applications will be accepted through June 19, 2026, and the award will be presented during the 2026 Polyurethanes Technical Conference.

Leistritz Extrusion to host Reactive Extrusion (REX) workshop

Univar Solutions expands partnership with SI Group

Univar Solutions B.V., a subsidiary of Univar Solutions LLC, has expanded its distribution partnership with SI Group to supply a broader range of performance additives across select markets in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

The agreement, announced March 11, extends the companies’ collaboration through the Ingredients + Specialties division of Univar Solutions and covers SI Group’s portfolio of additives used in plastics, rubber and adhesives manufacturing. The products include antioxidants, stabilizers, ultraviolet light stabilizers and impact modifiers.

Covesto participated in the ninth annual Rethink the Rink Make-a-thon

Twenty students at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) participated in the ninth annual Rethink the Rink Make-a-thon, an intense one-week program aimed at increasing safety in hockey using advanced materials from Covestro. With guidance from experts at Covestro, a world-leading supplier of high-tech polymer materials, the Pittsburgh Penguins professional hockey team, and Bauer Hockey, the world’s leading hockey equipment manufacturer, four teams of students competed, each designing a groundbreaking hockey goalie chest protector prototype.

The green team’s winning prototype incorporated hexagonal impact plates and a unique cooling system.
