Continental is introducing to its truck tire portfolio new 19.5” rim size drive and steer tires developed with the needs of class 4 and 5 vehicles in mind.
These tires were specifically developed to fit the needs of class 4 and 5 vehicles and meet the needs of different vocations. Class 4 and 5 vehicles made up 2.5 million of the commercial vehicle registration in 2022 and handle up to 14,0001 lbs. – 19,500 lbs.

The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., announced that it will participate in the Japan Mobility Show 2023, to be held at Tokyo Big Sight in Koto-ku, Tokyo, from October 26 through November 5 (open to the general public from October 28). For recyclers shredding tires, the loading and unloading of shredded materials from conventional scrap containers can be a logistical bottleneck in their operations, wasting labor and time. The challenge is that portable shredding systems have not been designed to take advantage of one of the recycling industry’s most labor-efficient types of containers: open-top walking floor semi-trailers, which simplify loading and unloading.

Continental celebrates the 25th anniversary since the foundation of its tire plant in Timisoara, Romania, and the production of the 300 millionth tire. With total investments of over 600 million Euros since 1998, Continental has created more than 2,700 permanent jobs in Timisoara. The Timisoara tire plant has a production capacity of 16.5 million tires.

A 2X increase in speed, with models running to 1000 RPM depending on the application, are now available in the Guill line of patented rotating tip & die designs. By rotating the tooling in relation to the material flow, a rotary head increases the wall strength of an extrusion, thereby allowing a thinner wall with less material and the corresponding cost savings for the user. Typical applications for rotary heads include medical and multi-lumen tubing plus various high-end extrusions with interlocking layer or multiple striping requirements.

Amid plummeting primary aluminum production in the U.S., the Department of Energy must invest in American-made clean aluminum to retain and create manufacturing jobs, reduce industrial emissions, and grow a vitally important industry. That’s according to a letter sent by Ford Motor Co., General Motors, Pepsi Co., Ball Corp., Rivian, SunPower and eight more leading companies to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Jennifer Granholm. The letter says that by using investments from the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) to expand and secure an affordable supply of clean energy, the Biden administration can modernize and grow this industry, rather than letting American-made primary aluminum disappear.

Guill Tool recently announced the purchase of a CNC grinder and a CT scanner. The company’s rheology lab measures the flow characteristics of plastics and rubber to better predict how the customer’s material will flow through the extrusion dies before they’re made. Together with the scanner, simulation greatly reduces the number of physical reworks needed.
